Stichting Village of Peace (https://villageofpeace.org) attaches great importance to protecting your personal data. We process personal data carefully and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who does this privacy statement apply to?
This privacy statement applies to donors, volunteers, contacts and visitors to our website. Separate internal privacy arrangements apply to employees and volunteers.
What personal data do we process?
We only process data that is necessary for our activities, such as:
• name and contact details
• bank account details and donation information
• communications and correspondence
• information about involvement in our activities
What do we use your data for?
We process personal data only for:
• processing and administering donations
• informing you about our work (for example through newsletters, with your consent)
• fundraising and relationship management in line with the objectives of the foundation
• improving our services and website
• complying with legal obligations
We process personal data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interest and – where required – your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Do we share data with third parties?
We only share personal data with third parties when this is necessary for our activities or to comply with legal obligations. This may include, for example:
• payment service providers, such as Mollie and Stripe;
• banks;
• IT, software and hosting providers;
• accountants and other professional service providers.
Where required, we enter into data processing agreements with parties that process personal data on behalf of Village of Peace. These agreements set out requirements for the careful, secure and confidential processing of personal data.
Information security
Village of Peace takes appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect personal data and other confidential information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure.
These measures include:
• access to systems and data is restricted to persons who need access for their work;
• accounts are personal and, where possible, protected by two-factor authentication;
• computers, software and systems are kept up to date with current security updates;

• access rights are adjusted or revoked when responsibilities change or when someone leaves the organisation;
• important data is backed up where necessary;
• in the event of a potential data breach, we assess what measures are required and whether the breach must be reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and/or the individuals concerned;
• Village of Peace periodically assesses whether its information security measures remain appropriate.

Retention periods
We do not retain personal data for longer than necessary:
• financial data: up to 7 years (legal obligation)
• contact details where there is no active relationship: up to 2 years
• newsletter data: until you unsubscribe
We periodically review whether it is still necessary to retain personal data.
At the end of the applicable retention period, personal data is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You have the right to:
• access your personal data
• have your data corrected or deleted
• object to processing
• receive or transfer your data (data portability)
• restrict processing
