Vegetable gardening with impact

At Vegetable gardening for self-reliance, we help vulnerable families in Afghanistan to help themselves. In this High Diversity Gardening program, participants learn to grow their own food and take interactive training courses on healthy nutrition and hygiene. This helps them increase food security, improve their health, and build a more stable future—step by step and with your support.

Stories of change

Naseefa

“I didn’t know much about the value of crops or cultivation techniques before, but I learned so much from your training. The training on saving, planting methods, and nutrition awareness helped us increase our harvest and improve our family’s health. The poultry package is helping us on our way to a sustainable life.”

Shahu

“Our farming wasn’t very successful, which worried my mother. A poor harvest also meant less straw and feed for our cow, which affected milk production. Thanks to your support, we have learned many new things over the past five months. We now know how to properly prepare the land for planting, which has already made a difference in the growth of our crops.”

Abdul

“Four years ago, my father passed away. From that moment on, all the care fell on my mother’s shoulders. She tried to earn extra money by doing cleaning work, but when women were no longer allowed to work outside the home, this additional source of income disappeared. My mother became ill and needed medical care, but there was no money for that. For food and income, we depended on our small piece of land and a cow. We grew vegetables and soybeans there, but the harvests were disappointing… Thanks to this training, we now have more knowledge and hope to move forward.”
